Question concerning Leap

I was wondering if anyone had more information on how Leap works exactly. (wtf it increases attakc speed too? did not know that) So whats the AOE on in the increase? Cause im sure Ive lept over a team mate and he didnt recieve the buff.

Also, how does leap work for things like aoe stuns. Ive seen it happen alot where POTM leaps away from Bradwarden as he stuns, and the potm lands while stun. I've also seen her leap while dead, the corpse moves. Finally Ive seen her leap a polarity, not get drawn in, but still end up stunned when she lands. I take it she receieves all dmg/debuffs from aoes that she leaps away from if shes in it for a small amount of time? (Bunta-fuji 21:07, 26 June 2008 (CDT))

Anyone know the answers to those quesitons? Also today my Frost Nova got lept (no dmg or slow). How does that happen? Nova isn't a projectile is it?(Bunta-fuji 01:40, 19 August 2008 (UTC))

Hoo boy. Leap was changed a few versions back, it no longer boosts Attack Speed. I'm inclined to say that the information currently listed came out of DonTomaso's hero skill list, which is also outdated. Sadly Tales' Guide to all Triggered Abilities doesn't explain Leap yet, otherwise this would be a lot easier, so bear in mind that my information may not be valid any more. Anyways, Leap's movement speed bonus is generated by an Aura from dummy units that lasts 8 seconds + 2~4 seconds for the aura to disappear. The AoE of 800 applies to Mirana's landing spot. I'm also inclined to say that that area has been reduced as of late, but without a copy of the map I can't be certain.
As for why your team mate didn't receive the buff despite your leaping over him, that's because Leap is coded with a typo - instead of moving 20 units in some set time interval, it moves 30 units - leading to travel distances that are actually 50% greater. So at level 4, Leap actually moves Mirana 825 units. Or at least that's the value I remember it being, Antiwelteilchen's edit apparently states that Leap has a movespeed of 2000, which would indicate that the increase is actually 66% more, leading to a travel distance of 916.66 units. Frankly I can't distinguish a distance of 91 units, so (again) I can't say which one is true; the point is that Leap actually moves Mirana a lot further than stated.
Now for the other oddities of Leap...triggers forcibly move Mirana every XX milliseconds, and also force her to face the direction that she is leaping in. This applies even if she's dead, stunned, disabled, allowing her to Leap out of Ensnare, Entangling Roots, and even Black Hole back before the recode that added the Fog/Silence effect. It should be noted that Leaping out of the first two skills mentioned will _not_ restore her movement though; as you noticed, she will still be disabled. The Reverse Polarity issue is fairly simple - the RP trigger moves all enemy units in range to Magnus' position, so Mirana was pulled - but then Leap's trigger moved her back out.
While she is a pain in the butt to click on while Leaping, she can still be targeted with disables while Leaping, and as long as she's in the air already, there's no reason why they shouldn't hit. This wasn't an issue back when Leap made Mirana completely invulnerable for the duration of the jump, but now the only thing Leap does to avoid damage is that 0.01 second Wind Walk that cancels projectiles already en route to her. AoE skills won't give a damn about that, of course, nor will spells with no projectiles, which includes Frost Nova. However, the fact that she does turn Invisible means that queued commands - even spells that are already in their casting animation - will stop immediately. Additionally, if a hero is far enough into an animation, they will automatically finish it unless you issue another order - this is true of both Attack and Spells. So I have to ask, are you sure that Frost Nova went off and Mana was drained? Even if she Leaped, the AoE of Frost Nova should still have hit her. It seems more likely that she Leaped right as Lich was in the casting foreswing for Frost Nova, causing Lich to finish his casting animation without actually using the spell.
I'll go change the Attack Speed mention, but without any more solid evidence, I'm hesitant to make any other changes to the skill's info. DotA Allstars Wiki Sysop Adra ChatStuff 02:29, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
Thx for the response. I watch the replay, it was actually an image rune and my nova casted uphill without site so when I walked up I saw a full hp potm running away which I assumed at leapt it. I tested leap and you do get IAS. Dunno bout the leap though. Doesnt seem you move 900, seems you move roughly your attack distance which is 600 right?(Bunta-fuji 04:33, 19 August 2008 (UTC))
The aura PotM gains after Leaping gives both IAS and movespeed (and both 4%/8%/12%/16%). The AOE of the aura is 99999 but the available targets are 'hero, player' (Hero, Player Unit), which means that only Mirana (and possibly other heroes controlled by the Mirana player in -noherolimit) will get the bonus. During the leap, a trigger is called every 0.025 seconds. A variable, "DistanceRemaining", is kept to store the remaining distance for Leap. The trigger moves Mirana forward 30 units, but oddly it subtracts DistanceRemaining by 20. Thus the speed of Mirana while leaping should be 30/0.025=1200, and she actually leaps 1/2 farther than expected. The trigger will stop running when DistanceRemaining is a negative number. The initial value of DistanceRemaining is 400/450/500/550, thus the trigger runs 21/23/26/28 times, bringing Mirana 630/690/780/840 units away. I got the data above by reading the JASS script, and I'm correcting all the info in the Mirana article now according to the above. If anyone disagrees, state the reason here and put a {{controv}}. ~ DotA Allstars Wiki Power Admin WyvernoidChatStuff 05:48, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
According to Tales' Guide to Triggered Abilities, When Mirana lands, "Counts all allied heroes in a 800 AoE (this is from the spot that you're landing) from Mirana and for each of them: create a dummy unit (e01R) at the center of the map for the Owner of the enum unit, add an Endurance Aura (A0LO) ablity to it and apply a timed life of 10 seconds to it." and Leap should move you 600/675/750/825 at level 1~4 since the coding typo makes her Leap 50% more units than stated in the tooltip. Should I put a {{controv}}? = DotA Allstars Wiki Sysop Ner'zhulChatStuff 18:52, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
Actually, if you read my reply, you will find out why it is 630/690/780/840 units instead of 600/675/750/825. Mirana is moved forth in portions of distance (30), so the distance can only be a multiple of 30. Also, the trigger will only stop if DistanceRemaining is a negative number (not even 0), so it will run once more if the advertised distance is a multiple of 20. About the available targets, now I realize that I was wrong. Correcting that part now. ~ DotA Allstars Wiki Power Admin WyvernoidChatStuff 04:38, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

What a bunch of controversial stuff, so whats the deal at the end? --DotA Allstars Wiki Bureaucrat Psf KurtChatStuff 06:02, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

UC business

Does Mirana's leap prevent her from being UC'ed? or will she still get the bomb? Rotund 05:52, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

And UC stands for? EDIT: I see, Alchemist's Unstable Concoction --DotA Allstars Wiki Bureaucrat Psf KurtChatStuff 14:34, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Yup, cause i've seen the UC list of skills that cannot be hit by it. and leap isn't there. Rotund 11:14, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Starfall

I was just wondering about Starfall. It says 600-900 range has a 60% chance, so does that mean the distance you auto attack a unit will have a 60% chance at all times? Or is the unit hit boxs slightly inside 600 range at all times? (Bunta-fuji 03:15, 31 October 2008 (UTC))

This is how it works (not sure about the order):
  • Hits all units within 600 range.
  • One unit within 200 range is randomly selected to be hited again by half the damage in case there is any.
  • There is a 60% to each unit within 600 and 900 range to be hit aswell.
undestood? ^^ --DotA Allstars Wiki Bureaucrat Psf KurtChatStuff 19:28, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
